Does Your attitude affect your golf?

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world. ~Harriet Tubman

Does the attitude you’re carrying around in your golf “baggage” work for you? At any given time it either works for you or against you… which do you choose? Have you been listening to Your Inner Swing?

Put it this way…

  • Is your glass half empty or half full?
  • Is the sky partly cloudy or mostly sunny?
  • Are your thoughts don’t hit it in the water, or I want to hit the green?

When was the last time you asked your self, “what am I thinking right now?” It’s time to start asking, listening and answering your thoughts. And it starts with the right attitude.

HAVE A CONVERSATION WITH YOURSELF

More often than you might expect, making an important change is as simple as asking yourself: “Okay, what are my beliefs?” … and then listening attentively for the answer.

So: You want to improve your swing, your score, your putting ability – whatever. Guess what? In order to make that happen, you must be willing to start a conversation with yourself … open yourself fully to that conversation … and become aware of what that conversation reveals about you and your belief system. At any given moment, you are the sum total of what you believe and how you choose to act on those beliefs.

Your job right now is nothing more — and nothing less — than to become aware of the thoughts within yourself. We all talk to ourselves… but what are you saying?

Notice the conversation

In order to become aware of what you actually believe, you must make a conscious effort to notice your own internal dialogue on the golf course. You can tell whether not you are making progress by how often you notice what you are saying to yourself, internally. How often, during the course of a golf game, do you stop yourself and think, “Wow, I really just said that to myself!”?

CHANGE THE DIALOGUE

Most people go through life more or less unaware of the dialogue they’re having with themselves. They may even think that they don’t have an internal dialogue. They do. Noticing that you do in fact have discussions with yourself is an essential precondition of changing that dialogue.

Have you ever thought…

“I always have a problem with this hole.”

“My swing needs work.”

“I start out strong, but I can’t seem to make the easy putts.”

Stop and think. Are those really the kinds of beliefs you want to build your game around?

The reason it is so very important for you to notice your current patterns of belief is quite simple: You really will get what you focus on. That is true when you’re on the golf course and when you’re anywhere else, by the way. This is the Law of Attraction in action.

When you change your attitude (or at least notice it) your outside begins to change. Your golf game is a product of your thoughts, feelings and attitude. It’s up to you to notice what it is and if you agree that the outcome came from the income.

Is Your Inner Mind Swing, destroying Your Outer Golf Swing

What negative beliefs are you carrying around in your golf “bag”, that are destroying your golf game?

*

I’ve worked with golfers of all abilities. From the new golfers first lesson of gripping the club and addressing the ball, to working with PGA Tour players on their focus and visualization skills.

Even though golf is 90% mental, most golfers only practice the physical aspect of the game. One of the problems is that as Golf Professionals we are not taught to do psychoanalysis, or teach golfers how to think. This is one of the reasons handicaps have not come down in years.

The outer conditions of a person’s life will always be found to

reflect their inner beliefs~ James Allen

You must change your inner thoughts to change your outcome! Yes, having properly fit equipment and getting great instruction is part of it. However, if you are still thinking thoughts of, “I can’t get better” or “I hate this hole” or any negative thought in golf, your are holding on to self-limiting beliefs. It is virtually impossible to improve your outcome without improving your input.

So if it is said that golf is 90% mental, then why do most amateur golfers only hit balls to improve their game? Here’s the reason…They can’t practice their mental game… They don’t know how!

Many golf instructors and most books don’t emphasize practicing mind power. The big picture is being lost in translation within the real game itself and how it is played. Are you ready to get the results you’ve always wanted? Ready to make the change you’ve been looking for?

Golf is life!

Golf is not just about chasing a ball all over the course, it is profoundly much larger than that. Like life, golf has many games within the game. And like life, there are ups and downs to the game. The better you manage the downs, the better you will likely score. Mind power is about managing your emotions and staying in control of the situation. Developing the mental game is a huge and critical game within itself. Top athletes in the game know this, it’s time amateurs know the secret too!

Thoughts and Emotions that will help you:

LOVE GOLF

  • Let your current shot be your best shot. Appreciate the ability you currently have to play an amazing game, and allow your gratitude to flow.

  • “I love these greens, they are perfect” vs. “I hate slow greens”. Appreciate what is in the here and now.

  • Tell your partners know how much you appreciate playing with them. Your round will surely start and finish on a better note.

LOVE LIFE

  • Tell your husband or wife, mother or father, sister or brother, “I love you” when they least expect it.

  • Hold open a door, tell a stranger “good day”, and thank your postman for delivering your mail.

Get your morning “GLO”

Wake up saying, “what a fantastic day to feel Gratitude, Love and Opportunity!”

Today is your day to start appreciating your life. See what happens when make gratitude a daily practice! It’s the inner mind power you need to rise to the next level of your game.

Now you’re ready to make that change in your golf game. If you tried everything to help your swing and improve your score, you’ve been missing the real truth. You must change your inner swing thoughts, and learn what the Pro’s on Tour already know and do. Are you now Ready?

INSIDE THE MENTAL GAME OF GOLF

The Power of the Inner Mind

Hypnotherapy is used widely to improve performance in sports. Since the Russians dominated back at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, hypnosis has been a proven method in sport training. The Russian team took over 10 hypnotists to develop mental clarity and visualization. In the 1980 Olympics, 12 out of 20 Australian swimmers named, were using hypnosis tapes for two months beforehand.

Great athletes and the Mind Power of hypnosis

Golf is most likely the most popular sport that applies hypnosis techniques, although has been used with many other individual and team sports including football, tennis and baseball, basketball and even swimming.

Greg Louganis, of the 1988 Seoul Olympics would visualize himself doing the dive perfectly over and over before stepping on the diving board. When he tragically hit his head on the board while performing a complicated dive during the 3 meter final, he didn’t panic. While his head injury was being treated he put earphones on to listen to hypnosis tapes. Remarkably, Greg then went out to score a perfect dive the second time, enough to earn him the gold medal!

Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls used daily Self hypnosis to empower themselves to be an unbeatable team. They won 6 NBA Championships using mind power techniques to maintain their focus.

Jack Nicholas went beyond saying that golf is 90% mental. He said golf is a game that required 90% mental Preparation and 10% Skill to be the best. He was the first to describe how he visualized. Jack saw every putt going in, and every blade of grass the ball would land on before getting up to hit the shot. His preparation paved the way for his golf career to win time and time again.

Golf is the game that is 90% mental

Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and even Ernie Els have worked on their mind power through golf hypnosis. You’ll often hear Tiger say, “I trust my subconscious”. The reason you don’t hear many successful golfers talk about their mental training, is because they know how powerful it is! Yes, 90% of the winners on tour have worked at their golf mind power extensively. Now you can too.

I believe one of the greatest shots in golf was Tiger’s shot at the 2005 Masters he had hit over the 16th green. It was an incredibly difficult shot that took 100% concentration and complete belief in his internal ability. Watching him take all the elements in, scoping the entire situation and executing with the precision of threading a needle, Tiger holed a shot that was heard around the world. I’m still impressed when I see it! (Watch Tiger in action to the left of this article.)

I’ve worked with golfers of all abilities, from the first lesson of first gripping the club and addressing the ball, to PGA Tour players of clearing their focus and finding their inner vision. Even though golf is 90% mental, most golfers only practice the physical aspect of the game. Hypnosis is an effective way to connect the mind and body so they work together and improve equally.

So if it is said that golf is 90% mental, then why do most amateur golfers only want to hit balls to improve their game? I’ll tell you why. They don’t know how to do anything else. Many golf instructors and most books don’t emphasize practicing mind power. The big picture is being lost in translation of the essence of the game.

Golf is not just about chasing a ball all over the course; it is profoundly much larger than that. Golf is life! (okay so that’s for another article) Like life, golf has many games within the game. And like life, there are ups and downs to the game. The better you manage the downs, the better you will likely score. Mind power and developing the mental game is a huge game within itself. All top athletes know this, most amateurs haven’t a clue. Here is why.

Look at the number of books published on the golf swing vs. on golf’s mental game.

If you search Amazon’s site you’ll find this:

  • Golf swing - 3,827 books
  • Golf’s mental game – 254 books

So it’s not your fault if you are not creating your mind power, so to speak. The resources for improving your mental golf game is out there, just not as abundant as the physical aspects of the golf swing. No more excuses, the secret is now out. For you to continue improving at golf, you must work on the mental aspect of golf, period!

Here is your starting point. You can start to work on your subconscious programming when you listen to my FREE “power nap”. I am giving it away, no strings attached. Follow this link to get you started. During your “nap” think about what it is you want to improve on. I guarantee the wheels will start to move in the direction of your thoughts! The key is to work on your golf physically and mentally in equal parts so you grow in body, mind power and spirit. Golf is a game of a lifetime. Enjoy every part of it!

BEING GRATEFUL IS INNER MIND POWER TO LIVE BY!

God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today.

Have you used one to say “thank you? ~William Arthur Ward

November is the “Thank You month”. In the United States most of us say a special “thank you” once a year. Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is a traditional North American holiday to give thanks.

Brief history of the “Thank you” holiday:

The Plymouth settlers (or “Pilgrims”) set apart a holiday immediately after their first harvest in 1621. They held an autumn celebration of food, feasting, and praising God.

In 1789 Washington designated a national thanksgiving holiday for the newly ratified Constitution, specifically so that the people may thank God for “affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness” and for having “been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national One now lately instituted, for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed… “

President Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a Federal holiday as a “prayerful day of Thanksgiving” on the last Thursday in November. Since then every U.S. President has always made an official Thanksgiving Proclamation on behalf of the nation.

Traditional Thanksgiving celebration

Growing up as a kid in the United States, I always loved Thanksgiving. It meant a time to get together with family, eat really good food, and of course, no school! Thanksgiving has always been a four day weekend which usually means schools and colleges have a break, and banks and post offices are closed. It’s a time when friends and family get together for a reunion, a day of thanks, and a festive meal.

Thanksgiving meals are usually family gatherings where certain kinds of food are served. Turkey is featured in most Thanksgiving meals (so much so that Thanksgiving is also known as “Turkey Day”).

At our house we’d have the biggest turkey mom could find (got to have left-over for sandwiches), stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, sweet potatoes casserole with apples and marshmallows, string bean casserole (my favorite), cranberry sauce, corn, pumpkin pie and apple pie. Thanksgiving guests may bring dishes of food or help with cooking as part of a happy, shared and grateful meal.

In keeping with the holiday theme of giving thanks, during the meal, people talk about what they are thankful for or tell about experiences during the past year which have caused them to feel grateful.

What does it all mean?

Why do most people only give thanks once a year?

Mind power awareness of gratitude, appreciation and giving “thanks” beyond Thanksgiving day is what truly works!

1. Say “Thank You” every day for the life you have

2. Acknowledge and praise the love you feel in your heart, and share it with others

3. Tell people in your life that you appreciate them, while you can

Thank You Business

§ Say thank you to your co-workers (especially the one’s that don’t notice you). Their reaction might surprise you.

§ Be grateful for the job you have (even if it’s not the exact one you want). Opportunities open when your heart is open.

§ Remind your self how blessed you are to love what you do. Find something pleasing about your job, or consider your options.

Thank you GOLF

§ Let your current shot be your best shot. Appreciate the ability you currently have to play an amazing game, and allow your gratitude to flow.

§ “I love these greens, they are perfect” vs. “I hate slow greens”. Appreciate what is presently in front of you, just be thankful.

§ Tell your partners know how much you appreciate playing with them. Your round will start and end more agreeable and fun.

Thank you LIFE

§ Tell your husband or wife, mother or father, sister or brother, “I love you” when they least expect it.

§ Hold open a door, tell a stranger “good day”, and thank your postman for delivering your mail.

§ Get your morning “GLO”. Wake up saying, “what a fantastic day to feel Gratitude, Love and Opportunity!”

Today is your day to be thankful. Every day you have a new opportunity to think, say and do something good. It starts with being thankful, grateful and appreciating your life. November is the “thank you” month. See what happens when make gratitude a daily practice! It’s a mind power with the strength to move mountains for you.

AWARENESS OF GRATITUDE FOR STRESS FREE LIVING

tpc1.jpg

“If the only prayer you say in your entire life is ‘thank you’ that would suffice.”
~ Meister Eckhart

Rushing off to work, the bills, un-healthy relationships, traffic jams, late for appointments, criticism, pressure, under-appreciation… and then running to the golf course to play without a warm-up! How do you deal with stress?

Imagine… You are snuggled warm in your cozy bed when you hear the beeping of your alarm clock go off. Your arm reaches over to press the “snooze” button, but this morning nothing happens. The beeping continues – and is getting irritating, all you want is 5 more minutes. So now you open your eyes, press again on the button, more beeping. You hit another switch which should turn the alarm off completely… more beeping. In a fit of frustration you finally pull out the cord from the electrical outlet.

You’re now up and in the bathroom at the toilet when . . . the toilet won’t flush. “Oh this is going to be a great day,” you think. You get dressed and start the coffeemaker. When you come back to the kitchen there is hot water and coffee grounds all over. Now it’s getting late and you’ve got to get to work. As you drive to work, you’re thinking about how rough the morning has been when suddenly . . . you are cut off and almost run off the road.

When you arrive at work your heart is still racing and you take every opportunity to tell everyone about “your morning”. What a relief it will be when this day is over!

Remember “Murphy’s Law”… Well, if you’ve ever had a day when everything that could go wrong, did, you can probably sympathize with that story above. It’s easy to become frustrated, feel sorry for yourself and think, “why me”?

Imagine a day when . . . .

  • the alarm works perfectly
  • the toilet flushes
  • the coffeemaker makes a hot cup of coffee
  • no one cuts you off

Now what happens? Do you arrive at work feeling overwhelmed with gratitude – with an attitude of appreciation for all the people and things that are supporting your perfect glorious morning? That would be wonderful… but probably not.

Habits of attention, becoming aware

If there’s no real problem going on that morning, your mind may think about something that happened in the past or anticipate something that may transpire during your day. It is common for our attention to focus on the problems we are having because we have to pay attention to in order to handle them. (Make sense?)

In becoming aware

Unfortunately many people develop the “habit of un-awareness” in which they fail to notice the many good things that support them. Your health, work, family, and efforts to accomplish your goals all become habits at some point.

The more this “habit of un-awareness” has developed, the less likely you’ll be able to experience gratitude. You must become aware of what is good in your life in order to de-stress, or rid your self what is not welcome.

Self-reflection – looking in your personal mirror

When you take a step back and quietly reflect on everything in and around you, are now becoming aware. The moment I did that, I felt more cared for, loved and supported than ever before. A feeling of gratitude hit me in such a way that it woke up my consciousness! Once I became aware to notice my life, I gained a power I had never known before… the power of gratitude!

Three obstacles of feeling gratitude

1. Self-preoccupation:
Being constantly preoccupied with your own thoughts, feelings, and needs you’ll have little left over for anyone or anything else. Think of your thoughts as a flashlight. Shine the light on your problems, negativity, aches and pains, and you’ll see more of those things. Like the law of attraction states, what you focus on gives your more of that which to focus on.

2. Expectation:
When I turn the switch on in my bedroom I assume the light will go on. Once I’ve come to expect something, it doesn’t usually get my attention. I am usually not aware of something until my expectation isn’t met. (Because the light bulb doesn’t work, I have to change the light bulb)… aha!

3. Entitlement:
The more I think I’ve earned something or deserve something, the less likely I am to appreciate it. As long as I think I’m entitled to something I won’t feel grateful for it.

To experience a sense of heartfelt gratitude you must overcome these obstacles. Self-reflection provides a path by creating self-awareness. It allows us to stop and appreciate what is being given to us rather than focus on what we don’t have.

It is rare to meet a person whose life is full of gratitude. Many people don’t truly appreciate what they have until it is gone. That’s a sad truth, which we all have the power to change.

To develop gratitude you must become aware. Once aware, you must practice it. Like any sport, without practice you cannot develop the skill - only the concept or idea. You cannot become a grateful person just by thinking, “I want to be grateful.”

Complaining is a wonderful practice if you wish to develop frustration, bitterness and self-pity. If you’ve ever tried it, it’s very effective. Each time you complain you get better at complaining. It is like learning to play a sport. Become aware of what you want.

Now what?

Create the stress free life you were meant to have. Start to observe, reflect and express your life. The first step to change anything, is in becoming aware! Your mind power is your ability and awareness to become grateful today.

I love the beaches in Hawaii… On the golf course!

hawaii-beach-edit.jpg

The mind, once expanded to the dimensions of larger ideas, never returns to its original size. ~Oliver Wendell Holmes

As a Motivational “mind power” Speaker and LPGA Teaching Professional, I do corporate golf outings quite often. This August I worked with the Saturday Series private outing for the PGA TOUR and Golf Channel, at Great River Golf Club in CT. The Saturday Series Pro-Am features pros who participated in the week’s PGA TOUR event but did not qualify for the final two rounds. Proceeds from the Saturday Series Pro-Am benefit charities throughout North America. Hallberg Golf Productions, which produces the Saturday Series Pro-Am, in partnership with participating TOUR events, has raised $2.4 million for the many benefiting charities. I felt honored that they asked me to be a part of this great event.

I was brought in to do the morning clinic in the company of one or two of the PGA Tour Professionals that were there. So while Ted Purdy and Tom Purnice were hitting balls during the clinic, I was speaking of the mind power aspects of what they were doing (and ultimately thinking). While most golfers expect some last minute “technical” advice before they go out and play, this message was the opposite, think less, feel more! Instead of giving them more to think about, and even more for their left brain (conscious thinking) to process, this message was more of a right brain concept (or visual and feel). Even Ted and Tom jumped on board with me when they saw the direction I was heading. I think they were both relieved to talk more about visualization, than a technical swing thought, especially before there are going out to play.

As the clinic progressed and Ted and Tom were going through their pre-shot routines, I talked about the power of the mind to visualize. Most Professionals do use visualization, but most amateurs do not. What happened next was truly wonderful.

As Ted was listening to me and realized he didn’t have to talk about his swing’s technical aspects, he spoke of his wonderful run of playing great golf. It was his swing thought (that had nothing to do with golf) that put him into a peaceful state of mind. He said during his pre-shot routine and while he was actually hitting the ball, he would say to himself, “I love the beaches in Hawaii”. He then showed everyone, and it was nothing short of poetic! As I looked around at the crowd that gathered for the clinic, there were smiles on everyone’s faces. People were glowing in amazement. It was like everyone had the “aha” moment together! I heard, “oh, I like the beaches in Hawaii, that might work for me”, and “that’s an interesting thought, I might try that”.

Then Tom Pernice jumped on board and added his thoughts for his pre-shot routine. He had heard that Vijay uses “seven-teen” when he swings, so Tom said he tried it, liked it, and uses it sometimes. He likes the two syllables for an easy transition to the back and forward swing. Tom modeled the “seven-teen” swing to the group with ease and fluidity. I then heard someone in the crowd say, “I’m gonna use that today, that’s good!”

tpurdy-edit.jpg

What always strikes me differently when I do these mind power clinics is “the kid in a candy store” effect. You know, the excitement you felt as a kid when you walked into your favorite Five and Dime candy store (okay, I am dating myself a bit, those are long gone). That’s what happens when golfers get a thought that strikes a cord with them or resonates to something they can do immediately. It’s the thought of, “I can do that” or “yes, that’s good for me”. Usually a new technical concept takes time for your conscious and subconscious mind to agree that it will work. But when it’s immediate, it’s usually an easy to thought to ingest, that’s most likely non-technical.

Here is the bottom line:

Because your conscious mind is the “analyzer and criticizer”, and your subconscious is the “non-critical computer-like acceptor” you may notice a conflict at times. Your conscious mind gives the “yes or no” to your subconscious mind. In golf, your conscious mind is the one telling you whether you can make the three foot putt or not. Your subconscious mind will believe whatever you tell it. As an example, if after a few times of missing the three-footer (versus making it) you told yourself, “I’m such an idiot, I keep missing that putt”. Now your subconscious mind will remind you that “you’re an idiot” every time you have that putt. You will miss the three foot putt over and over again… until you change your programming!

alex-chek-edit.jpg

Mind Power is the ability and power to change your thoughts. Visualization is fastest way to do this. Most people think visualization is strictly an eye concept. It’s much more than just seeing.

We have five senses:

  1. visual (see)
  2. auditory (hear)
  3. kinesthetic (touch)
  4. olfactory (smell)
  5. gestation (taste)

Of the five senses, the top three are most used in sports. Some athletes use four or even five of them. I knew a guy when I was competing in racquetball that would smell the ball before each serve! (Notice how many senses he used.) He would hold the blue racquetball in his left hand, bring it right up against his nose, take a big whiff in (as if he was getting a high from it), glare at his opponent, bounce the ball once or twice and serve. Talk about getting in the zone! He stayed ranked in the top ten for many years. (You have to find what works for you!)

Tapping into the subconscious

Okay, back to the Saturday Series. After lunch I offered a Mind Power Reprogramming session to everyone at the event. Those who attended were ready to open their minds to a different way of thinking, after hearing me at the clinic in the morning. Most of them had never done any form of meditation or hypnosis, and were curious how to better develop their mind power. First I needed to dispel the myth that all hypnosis is “stage hypnosis”, which is what most people believe. Here are actually three variations of hypnosis:

  1. Stage hypnosis is when subjects are asked to say or perform things that will entertain the audience.
  2. Highway hypnosis is a mental state in which you can drive great distances, with no recollection of having consciously doing so.
  3. Therapeutic hypnosis is when the subject is encouraged to see themselves as what they want to become, like an improved golfer, or non-smoker.

As in any business, building rapport is the best way to build trust and further communication. It was important for me to explain to the group what I was going to do, in order to gain their trust in me. The mind power techniques I use are a combination of educating, enlightening and empowering my subjects. If I were to just hypnotize people, that wouldn’t educate or enlighten them into what was going to be “their own mind power”. It’s a concept of “going to, happening, happened”. It is the education of becoming aware of what is, what will be and what was.

So after I relaxed their conscious minds and infused their subconscious with the “lemon visualization”, they were ready to enter the mind power experience. During my sessions I usually play a combination of ocean sounds mixed with gentle music that helps promote relaxation into a nice place of tranquility. The more the conscious mind relaxes and lets go, the more open the subconscious mind accepts the messages being given.

When the session was over and I brought them out of hypnosis there was a gentle calm in the air. They were told, “take a deep breath in, stretch your arms, and open your eyes when you are ready”. As each of them slowly came back into the room, back to their conscious state of mind, there was a mystical softness across their faces. You see while they were completely relaxed, listening to my voice, my words provided them with inclusive love, without limitation. The highest emotion any human can feel is love. When you are brought to a state of love, everything else in accepted.

Bringing them to that “place of love”, mind power principles are welcome and acknowledged. Thoughts like appreciating your own personal gifts, allowing love into your life, feeling a sense of gratitude, and being able to forgive were suggestions they might accept. What each of them took away from the experience is their own to keep, nurture and hopefully continue to cultivate.

I love the beaches in Hawaii” might have a little more meaning now. Three of the six words can create a positive visual experience. Try it, you might like it!

Remember: The mind once expanded to the dimensions of larger ideas, never returns to its original size. ~Oliver Wendell Holmes

Below is a letter I received from John Goutell of the Saturday Series after the event about his experience.

Randy,

Thank you. It takes somebody who is very confident of their abilities to work comfortably in the loose structure we prefer at our events. We thought the clinic was very well received, both by the guests and the TOUR professionals. I will be telling people about the things I learned from listening to you and Ted Purdy interact. I will also be trying those things out myself. That was top notch stuff.

I think you opened doors in each of us that we didn’t know existed. I know everyone was impressed.

We had a couple of cool experiences yesterday evening and traveling today. We joked as we drove home from the airport that we feel like super heroes (I’m “Positive Magnet Man”).

Please call me after your week up at the Duetsch Bank working with —–. I would like to hear how that goes, and we’d like to talk about putting together some options that will allow us to offer our clients the opportunity to integrate your program into their event.

We all enjoyed meeting you and it was truly a pleasure working with you. We wish you the best of success, and look forward to the chance to work with you in the future.

All the Best,

John

Power of Gratitude for Golf!

Feeling grateful or appreciative of someone or something in your life actually attracts more of the things that you appreciate and value into your life.” –Christiane Northrup

The Power of Gratitude is an important aspect of attracting to you the Abundance and Happiness that you desire and deserve in your life. The power of gratitude will moves mountains for you. Whatever it is you want in your life, you must first be grateful for all you have in this very moment.

The power of gratitude for golf is loving everything about your golf game right now! It sounds strange, but it works! The moment you are ungrateful on the golf course, you just “seem” to fall apart. You’ll see, keep reading.

The most powerful Universal Law is the Law of Attraction. The energy (vibrations) that you resonate and project through your thoughts, feelings, and emotions determines your “vibrational frequency”, which attract positive and negative to you. Feeling grateful for everything in your life right now, is a very powerful positive frequency. The events, situations, and circumstances that you attract are all by-products of the Law of Attraction, whether you are aware or not.

When you are in a sincere state of gratitude, your energy (vibrational resonance) is one of acceptance and harmony. You resonate this energy and as a result project a much higher vibrational frequency which is what attracts to you the events, conditions, and circumstances that you desire. Are you aware of what you are projected?

Think of yourself as a giant magnet. No matter what you are feeling, whether its love, fear, anger, happiness, anger, joy, gratitude, etc. you are in essence creating a magnetic force that attracts and draws to you events, conditions and circumstances which are in direct connection to what you are feeling. Fear of something creates a magnetic force that attracts more of what you fear. Expressing Gratitude for any situation projects a magnetic force that draws to you more of what you are expressing gratitude for.

Become empowered to express sincere gratitude for whatever is currently happening in your life. You must become aware of this power to receive all this is good and right for you in complete abundance. The Law of Attraction is there (just like the Law of Gravity exists) whether you acknowledge it or not. The fact that YOU have the power to create your life on purpose!

Perception vs. Reality

What you perceive to be true, is true (for you). Your perception of something going wrong is only your perception. It is only wrong thought and wrong perceptions that are responsible for creations that show up in your life in the form of events, conditions and circumstances that you perceive as “going wrong.”

It’s important to recognize and express gratitude for the fact that EVERYTHING in your life is a vision, a creation that YOU formed in your mind that became thoughts first and into beliefs.

Here are 7 Grateful thoughts for you to consider:

1. Breathe and Say thank you! Inhale say, “thank”, and as you exhale say, “you”. Do this when you first wake up in the morning as you get out of bed. Your lungs will thank you too!

2. Be grateful for your food. Stop and really look at your food before you eat it. Take in the smells and think about all the people it took to get that food on your plate.

3. Be grateful for your pets. Look in there eyes as you pet them. Show them you are grateful for their warm nature and guidance they share with you.

4. Be grateful for your family & friends. Be present and tell them how you feel in the moment. Time is precious, we never know when it will be our last time to dance, play, sing, laugh, share a meal.

5. Be grateful you have a home and show some gratitude by keeping it tidy and clean.

6. Bless your body. Take a few deep breaths and exhale slowly, giving thanks for your health and vitality. Thank yourself for taking care of it!

7. Connect with a higher spirit. Take a few minutes each day to reflect on the fact that a power greater than you exists and is working through you.

What are you grateful for?

When on the golf course, just look around! That’s an easy place to find gratitude. An attitude of gratitude will get you where you want to go. How can you focus on being more grateful today?

Conscious Thoughts Become Subconscious Beliefs in Golf & Life

thinker-edit.jpg

Are you aware that the words you speak and the thoughts you think, become your subconscious beliefs?

Your conscious and subconscious mind have separate functions, yet they work together. The beauty is that you have some control of both of them. You may have heard the term, “conscious control” used before. That’s because our conscious mind controls part of you subconscious mind.

Your conscious mind is the critical factor, it’s the one reading, ingesting and deciding whether or not this information is appropriate not. Your conscious mind is constantly taking in new information and either keeping or disposing the contents.

Your subconscious mind is more like a computer. It is non-critical and does not make judgments. Just like a computer you can add and remove programs at will. Unlike a computer, your subconscious can take on huge quantities of information and process all of it at incredible speeds.

The first time you learn something new, you must think of how to do it consciously. Skills like learning to walk, feeding ourselves, riding a bicycle, and playing golf, are usually learned by listening to or watching another do the skill so we can figure out how we can do it.

I remember the first time I learned how to drive a stick shift. I thought I would never get it, as I jerked the car back and forth from one gear to the next. Of course it didn’t take long before I was shifting gears, shifting lanes and with a drink in my hand, (don’t try that at home!) Once these skills have been learned and programmed into your subconscious mind, you no longer consciously need to think about it. Your subconscious takes over the automatic pilot part of your mind, unlike the first time you ever tried it, and allows you to perform without thinking of “how to perform”.

Your subconscious takes care of your autonomic system. Can you imagine if you consciously had to think about every heart beat and every breath you took? That wouldn’t leave much time to drive a car! Your subconscious mind deals with hundreds of different tasks simultaneously among other responsibilities which allows the conscious mind for a higher plane of thinking, reasoning and learning.

Here is where the Law of Attraction comes in. Our beliefs are usually formed and then embedded in our subconscious. Your subconscious mind does not pass judgment; it only accepts what your conscious mind told it.

So if you believe that poor people are good and rich are bad, or “money is the root of all evil” - your subconscious mind will not let you be rich because it believes that being rich would make you a bad person, and that money is evil and therefore not good for you! (Phew, that was a mouthful!) Therefore it sees being rich as a bad thing. That in effect is the law of attraction. Your conscious thoughts turned into subconscious beliefs, which is what you will attract in your life.

Subconscious programming can be very positive if you believe that it’s your right to be wealthy. (We were all put on this earth to live life with abundance). A great mind power wealth belief is having more money enables you to help more people. Isn’t that a great reason to think about why you should have more… to give some away!

Feed your mind with positive places, people, and events to ultimately achieve your positive reality. How do you get more positive events occurring in your life? Think positively in all moments and at all times - don’t allow yourself to become distracted by the negativities of life. We all have “stuff” that happens to us… and? You’re not going to sulk about it, and continue to bring more suffering in your life, are you? Well wake up and do something about it. Look, complaining statements like, “my life is just the pits and I never get a break”, will bring more of what you are complaining about. So now is your chance to do something about it. RIGHT NOW!

Decide that feeling good and being positive is a dominant part of your life. You must become aware of what you no longer want, and decide what you do what. Focus on what you want to have, do or become. Your positive thoughts will manifest positive outcomes. Be patient and persistent!

I listened to Zig Ziglar many years ago and remember being so inspired by his message. He said that if you want be a millionaire than surround yourself around millionaires. If you want to move up the ladder in life, spend time with people that are either at the top or getting to the top.

  • The rich spend time with the rich!
  • The poor spend time with the poor!
  • The lonely spend time with the lonely!
  • The happy spend time with the happy!

To create new subconscious programming, find people who are already successfully running those programs that you want. If you want to be a better golfer, play with better golfers. If you want to move up the company ladder, have lunch with the higher-ups, and make sure you play golf with them! Do what they do, imitate their beliefs and watch as your new thought patterns begin to emerge. The first step is to become aware! When you are aware of your negative thinking, you now have the consciousness to change your thoughts with positive self-talk. “I know, like I know, like I know…” You get to fill in the blank!
